This is the field directly behind take-off.

This is the field directly behind take-off. There was a bit of rotor, but mostly it was in wind shadow from the trees. Due to the up-slope I think it would be a good place to land if you had the height to come in from behind..

I found an interesting looking take-off behind Zurich.

I just had the most awesome flight. The air is unstable. The thermal triggers are working. I had to leave thermals to avoid airspace above.

Just a short video made up from the last week. I had some camera issues. On my best day I attached the cameras and then in the rush to take off forgot to turn them on! On another day the camera turned itself off after a few minutes. On another day I knocked my GoPro off the wing with a fence post when turning the glider.
I feel I now have a glider that I feel confident to fly and I should be able to make more of conditions the next time I fly.

Another good landing in chasseral. Glider was a joy to fly after latest changes. No good thermals today. Some ridge soaring to be had but not much luck for me there..

Task set. A forecast for a hotter day with stronger winds and more turbulence down low. Fingers crossed I am lucky with my start and get a lift cycle so I can get above the really rough air and away from the trees.

A safe landing in chasseral. Another really rough day if my camera actually recorded anything I might have some footage of me getting thrown around. Glider definitely better to fly. I just need some good air.

Task set. Wind seems to be from the west. Pg pilots taking off there and getting above launch. A couple of high cus to the west. Less virus more haze.

Day 3.

Day 3. None in goal yesterday. Very turbulent air down low and pretty stable higher up. The forecast is for similar/worse today. Wind from the south on to and north in the other side of the hill. Possibility of convergence if it is possible to get up or more rough air and exciting landings.
Some carnage when landing yesterday it seems about a third of the pilots are missing today.

Another safe landing. Glider was better to fly. I timed my takeoff badly and had a scary xwind launch. Then I found myself in a sink cycle and managed to soar a cliff face for 20mins before I got too hot and frustrated with the rough air.
Landing was exciting rough air down to final so I came in hot.

Day 2.

Day 2. More wind. Conditions similar to yesterday otherwise. I reduced the leading edge tension and inner 4 Barton length. Hoping for more control.

Another good landing. Hard day. Very rough air. I'm not happy with the way the glider handles.

Another goal!  they decided to repeat the task from yesterday and I made it again, another low day with plenty of drift. I stayed low again but knocked an hour off my time from yesterday by flying more aggressively.
3 topless gliders in goal. Jason still leads the comp, Simon is in second and I just made third place today.

Task 2 of the State HG Comps.

Task 2 of the State HG Comps. My first XC on the Sport 2. A 100km triangle was a big task. I was very late taking off and the wind increased in the day as the thermal strength decreased. I couldn't make the last leg into wind.
The sport 2 is a lovelly glider to fly. The right side trailing edge was flapping away on glide and so yesterday I reset all the baten tensions and now she is tight as a drum and glides way better. She will never be a C4, but she should hold her own against a Sting 3.
