The road started off narrow and sealed and then became unsealed and then became less road and more track.

The caravan did really well all the way around to the NT. As I was driving down the Stuart highway on my way from Darwin to Burketown I looked at the map and decided I could save several hundred Kms by following the road marked 1 or Savannah Way. I was expecting a sealed road, I got a surprise.

I had great fun getting chased around Exmouth by the rangers and they were very sporting about it all too. I ended up towing the line and after a 2 weeks of cat and mouse with the rangers put the caravan somewhere it was allowed to be. I did wake up to some fantastic views on those days when I was parked up by the lighthouse or on town beach ;-)

I found some great spots for the caravan. I particularly enjoyed the view from the Lighthouse up at Exmouth.

Here was the caravan at the start of the great trip, about to leave Perth for Geraldton.

Here you can see the van after I added some solar power and a shower and hot water system. Not looking too bad.

Here is how the caravan looked when I first got it. Pretty normal I guess. Notice the furniture and general whiteness.

The Caravan Story

The caravan has a history and has suffered greatly at my hands. Because it still makes me laugh when I see the photos I am going to tell you the story now. It's going to be multiple posts because I am using Picassa to post. Maybe one day i will clean this mess up....When I am really bored....

Current Location!

At the moment the caravan is parked on the field at the bottom of Liz's garden. I have a pond a stones throw away and the trees provide plenty of shade for the solar panel and wind shadow for the wind turbine. The caravan is a new improved whiter version, never finished of course, but slowly reverting back to a habitable state.

Perth to Newy and Back....

Ok, I have been very slack. My best excuse is that my internet connection has been unreliable.
Here is the Update.
I drove from Perth to Newcastle to collect my caravan from Jamie's garden. I left on Sat Afternoon and returned on Sat afternoon exactly one week later. I drove 18Hrs a day averaging about 110kph on the way there and about 70kph on the way back. The car used about 9.5Lt/100Km on the way there and about 18Lt/100km on the way back with the caravan. I enjoyed the drive and listed to alot of audio books and music. I came back via Albany leaving the Caravan there.
A few weeks later I helped Matty and Liz move down from Perth to their new home in Albany, where my van is currently located...
